'When you have a large collection of animals to transport from one end of the world to the other you cannot, as a lot of people seem to think, just hoist them aboard the nearest ship and set off with a gay wave of your hand.' Gerald Durrell and his wife are the proud owners of a small zoo on the island of Jersey. But there's one thing that's better than a small zoo - a bigger one! So Durrell heads off to South America to collect more animals. Along windswept Patagonian shores and in Argentine tropical forests, he encounters a range of animals from penguins to elephant seals. But as always, he is drawn to those rare and interesting creatures which he hopes will thrive and breed in captivity . . . Told with enthusiasm and without sentimentality, Gerald Durrell's The Whispering Land is an often hilarious but always inspiring foray into the South American wilds.

Fans of Gerard Durrell's beloved classic My Family and Other Animals (the inspiration for The Durrells in Corfu on Masterpiece PBS) and other accounts of his lifelong fascination with members of the animal kingdom will rejoice at The Whispering Land. The sequel to A Zoo in My Luggage, this is the story of how Durrell and his wife's zoo-building efforts at England's Jersey Zoo led them and a team of helpers on an eight-month safari in Argentina to look for South American specimens. Through windswept Patagonian shores and tropical forests in Argentina, from ocelots to penguins, fur seals to parrots, Durrell captures the landscape and its inhabitants with his signature charm and humor.

Ilu bụ ịnyịnya nke asụsụ Igbo, ya mere ọbụrụ na eziokwu na-efu efu, anyi ga-eji ilu Igbo chọta ya Proverbs are the horses of the Igbo language, so if the truth goes missing, we use Igbo Proverbs to find it. In this sphere known as Igbo philosophy, every maxim act as a raw material for the general preferment of metaphysical reflection. It becomes obvious therefore that these ancient Proverbs play a critical role serving as perpetual escorts to the African viewpoint, in her desperate search for contextual truth. Such truths can only be unlocked through the use of traditional proverbs, and the fascinating conundrum that comes with them. This captivating assemblage represents the first major exhibition of historical Proverbs of traditional Igbo origin; alongside Proverbs from around the world. The Igbo regard Proverbs as a cherished patrimony bequeathed them by wise ancestors who sought to use concise verities to teach their progeny. I compiled this encyclopaedia of Proverbs by using validations gleaned from oral tradition, archived records, other authentic sources, and utterances from various reputable elders, who also double as custodians of their heritage. My own knowledge of local and regional Proverbs helped to provide this rare insight into the roots of the diverse pearls of wisdom that have served Igbo speakers for aeons. Ultimately, my aim is to use these maxims to contribute to the general debate on the genesis, the efficacy, and the relevance of contemporary Igbo and other Proverbs, including their handouts, not just to the West African sub-region, but to all mankind. This encyclopaedia reviews the history of proverbs in general – from ancient Egypt, to medieval Israel; and from NOK, to the Benin Kingdom. The book also showcases hundreds of proverbs from around the world. What makes this reference book unique is that it presents a section containing hundreds of maxims with parallel applications; while also allowing the reader to make his or her own rendering of the meaning of proverbs in a different section. The guidebook contains over 450 original images from certified and authentic sources. The motivation to publish a book showcasing ancient African Proverbs side by side with equivalent English renderings is because many of these Proverbs require an explanation so as to appeal to Western and general readers. Also, many Igbo speakers do not know the meanings or context of their own ancestral maxims. I am deeply grateful to: Mr Fyne Nwaọma Emmanuel, his countless contributions helped to make this historic compilation to become a reality.

The Maid of the Whispering Hills was the first novel by American novelist and screenwriter Vingie E. Roe. The writer blended languages with grace, creating a unique style of her own. It is a romantic read with many twists and turns. All the characters of this story are life-like and complement each other beautifully. The novel was praised in a San Francisco Call review as "a big novel by an author of great promise." Excerpt from The Maid of the Whispering Hills "None other in all the post would have dared as much, for this smiling young man with the blue eyes was the Law at Fort de Seviere, factor of the Company and governor of the handful of humanity lost in the vast region of the Assiniboine. But to Francette he was Power and Help, and she thought of naught else, as it is not likely she would have done even at another time."

A fast-paced thriller set on Florida's Gulf Beaches, "On the Whispering Wind" combines sharply drawn characters, insightful narrative, and a plot with more twists and turns than a two-lane coastal highway. In "All the Little Birdies," readers met taxi driver Jake Murdock. Murdock's taken a few wild rides with his sometimes bizarre passengers on Florida's steamy Gulf beaches. When Murdock's former girlfriend--cab driver Cassidy Andrews--finds a corpse in a Treasure Island condominium, and the dead man is the son of a famous televangelist, Murdock finds he's in for another wild and possibly fatal ride, "On the Whispering Wind." Blending the madcap zaniness of Tim Dorsey and Carl Hiaasen with the lyrical poignancy of James W. Hall and Randy Wayne White, "On the Whispering Wind" is evocative Florida noir.

There are many things in this world that happen. Some of them are unexplained. For the past thirty-nine years, my family and I have witnessed uncountable paranormal activities in several homes that were built on my land. All in which remain unexplained. So I decided to write most of these things down and share these experiences with the rest of the world. I used to be a very skeptical man. But after living through and experiencing the frightening things that are written in this book, I now know that these type of things are very real and are still happening to this present day.
